Sometimes we lose appreciation for true craftsmen...the work you create is clearly that of a true master'
A.O - USA
A very special, personal commission - intended as an heirloom of tomorrow; to house treasured memories and keepsakes from an entire family - for a private client in America, and detailed with a wealth of entirely personal bespoke touches.
The character-filled Scottish pippy oak was sourced locally - a very 'hands on' process which we documented and shared with the clients digitally.
From the exterior the piece is masculine - resembling a treasure chest of old - finely crafted for durability through the years in solid oak, bridle leather and solid brass.
As with a great many of our designs the dramatic reveal and moment of wonder is a key part of the story, and something we revel in.
Having un-buckled the hand-cut straps and solid brass saddlery buckles, the leather lined front face drops down to reveal a series of hand-bound custom made leather journals - each individually de-bossed with the clients family name. A beautifully featured solid oak drawer is lined with fine goat suede, and a series of slim solid oak drawers and hidden compartments slide out on solid brass waxed runners, all custom made and detailed with hand-carving.
A truly personal commission, and both a humbling and a very special experience for our team.
