This very special edition of our Credenza was created for long-time clients for an incredible home in London It features a slim, elegant steel leg structure, plated in antique brass, instead of more traditional wooden legs.
The immense feature doors are crafted from a single board of carefully selected (local) Scottish elm - chosen for it's stunning grain feature and rich colour. These are opened with slim, handmade solid brass door pulls (carefully aged with antiquing fluid) and housed within a carcass of quarter-sawn Scottish oak, all finished in hand-rubbed oil and beeswax.
The carcass is elegantly jointed with an asymmetric hand-cut mitre dovetail joint to the upper left shoulder - a nod to the past, atop precision contemporary engineering
To keep the doors dead-flat over time (elm is strong stuff, and it badly wants to warp and twist in a heated home) we crafted them from aircraft grade honeycomb aluminium sheet, fully edged and laminated to all faces with the solid elm, thinly-cut and book-matched. This design is incredibly rigid and light, and stops the doors, which are hung on adjustable soft close-hinges, from distorting.
Again we tried hard to combine the best of the old with the best of the new to create a durable, practical and beautiful heirloom piece.
