Raised from an orphan pup by Hebridean Isle of Coll native (and old family friend of the Robinson’s) Alan McKechnie, before being released back into the wild, Otto the otter re-appears from time to time near Alan’s home, to beg a fish from a soft-hearted fisherman. One of those fishermen was my dad, David - and this magical meeting inspired the Otto table!
The ripples and wake are hand-carved down into the surface of the slab of dramatic Scottish elm (sourced from Kellie Castle in Fife) chosen for it’s water-like appearance. Otto’s friendly head is popping out from the surface of the table, and he even has the small scar on his nose which identifies the real chap!
The tabletop has been left live-edged, but very finely finished (it’s incredibly smooth to the touch!) and it has an elegant, hand-shaped set of dark, fumed oak legs, reminiscent of the legs on our Origin desk.
SOLD (he was a very popular otter!) indicative cost for a similar piece £3000 - £4000 including VAT & local delivery.
